Program Description
The Windows Update with Community Assistance program aims to ensure that university-owned computers used by faculty and staff have a supported version of the operating system. This helps to ensure a more secure and up-to-date computing experience.
Windows Feature Updates contain not only security and quality revisions, but also feature additions and changes. To minimize the inconvenience of these sometimes lengthy updates, you will be prompted to select a convenient time for the installation, within a grace period. Once the grace period has passed, the update will be installed automatically.
-
Eligibility Requirements
All faculty and staff who use a university-owned computer running Microsoft Windows are eligible for this Program.
-
Enrollment Requirements
Faculty and staff participate automatically when the computer needs to install a Windows Feature Update.
-
Ongoing Participation
When Microsoft releases a new Features Update for Windows, you receive a "Software changes are required" notification message on your computer.
Please perform the quick and easy steps in the instructions to launch the installation and specify a convenient time to apply the changed. (Please see "Additional Information" for a link to the instructions.)
If you do not respond within the grace period, the update will install without your input, possibly at a time not convenient for you.
Windows Feature Updates typically occur once or twice a year. It is important that they be installed, so please do select an install time convenient for you.
-
Unenrollment
There is no unenrollment option, as the goal is to keep University computers up-to-date.
